Sale Magistrates Court
Sale Magistrates Court is located at 79-87 Foster Street, Sale. It operates on Monday and Tuesday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, as well as on Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, however, the court is closed between 1:00-2:00 pm on those days. For enquiries outside of these times, contact the court by phone on (03) 4113 7800. The court is located next door to the Wellington Shire Council. There is limited on-street parking in front of and around the court.
The Magistrates Court is the court where all criminal matters involving adults commence. It is also the court that hears summary criminal matters including traffic offences, and domestic violence order applications. While the Sale Magistrates Court deals with criminal matters where the accused is aged 18 or older, it also deals with civil matters and intervention order matters on certain days.
If you have a matter in the Sale Magistrates Court, make sure you arrive at court well before the time your matter is listed to be heard. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed, and you should come prepared to be at court for most of the day.
When you arrive at the Sale Magistrates Court, you will need to pass through security, and this will usually require that you remove any items from your pocket and place them in a tray to be scanned through by security. You will then need to approach the court registry on the bottom floor and make it known that you are at court. If you are represented on the day, your solicitor will usually advise the court registry of their appearance on your behalf and direct you as to where you need to go. If you are not represented, the court registrar will advise you of which courtroom your matter will be heard in and direct you to it.
Taking the next step and contacting a lawyer can be scary. Our lawyers will make you feel comfortable so you can talk about your situation.
