Geelong Magistrates Court
The Geelong Magistrates Court is located at Railway Terrace, Geelong.
The Magistrates Court is the court where all criminal matters involving adults commence. It is also the court that hears summary criminal matters including traffic offences, and domestic violence order applications.
The Geelong Children’s Court deals with criminal matters where the accused is under 18 as well as hearing child protection and adoption matters on certain days.
If you have a matter in the Geelong Magistrates Court, make sure you arrive at court well before the time your matter is listed to be heard. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed, and you should come prepared to be at court for most of the day.
When you arrive at the Geelong Magistrates Court, you will need to pass through security, and this will usually require that you remove any items from your pocket and place them in a tray to be scanned through by security. You will then need to approach the enquiries section, which is located at the bottom floor, and make it known that you are at court. If you are represented on the day, your solicitor will usually advise the court registry of their appearance on your behalf and will direct you as to where you need to go. If you are not represented, the registrar at the enquiries section will advise you which court room your matter will be in and direct you to it.

The court is adjacent to the Geelong Railway Station and close to a Westfield Shopping Centre. The central business district of Geelong also provides car parking availability however it is often limited and requires an early arrival.
