Coolangatta Magistrates Court
Coolangatta Magistrates Court is located at 136 Musgrave Street Coolangatta. It deals with summary criminal matters, including traffic matters, where the accused is an adult. Criminal matters where the accused is under 18 are dealt with by the Children’s Court, sitting in the same courtroom.
The District Court does not sit at Coolangatta. Indictable matters that commence in Coolangatta are committed to the Southport District Court for finalisation.
Coolangatta arrest court is scheduled for Monday of each week, commencing at 9.00 am. On Friday at 9.00 am of each week, the court hears domestic violence applications. There is a safe room with security available for all victims and DV support groups. Civil chamber applications are as scheduled with the magistrate. Peace and good behaviour applications, s87 work license applications, and special hardship applications commence at 9.30 am each Friday.
