The Best Lawyers in Yass
Yass Local Court
Yass Local Court is located at 47 Rossi Street, Yass Bay, on the corner of Comur Street, which is the main street in Yass. The District Court of New South Wales does not sit at Yass, so if you are facing a more serious charge in the Yass area you should expect it to be transferred to the court in Goulburn or Queanbeyan after initial appearances have occurred in the Local Court at Yass.
The Local Court is the court where all criminal matters commence. It will hear cases about all kinds of criminal and traffic offenses, including Assaults, Domestic Violence, Drinking Driving, and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order applications.
The Yass Local Court sits as the Yass Children’s Court for matters involving people under the age of 18. These are held in the same room as the Local Court, but anyone not connected with the case will be asked to leave when the Children’s Court is in session.
If you have a matter before the Yass Local Court, make sure you arrive well before the time your matter is listed. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed and you should come prepared to be at court for several hours.
The court list is held by a Registrar, who will circulate in the foyer before court begins, and ask people to check in. The foyer is little more than a hallway, running in an L shape on the Rossi and Comur streets sides of the courtroom.
Taking the next step and contacting a lawyer can be scary. Our lawyers will make you feel comfortable so you can talk about your situation.
