Sutherland Local Court
Sutherland Local Court is located on the corner of Flora and Belmont Street, Sutherland New South Wales, right near the Sutherland Police Station.
The Sutherland Local Court is the court where all criminal matters commence. It will hear cases about all kinds of criminal and traffic offenses, including Assaults, Domestic Violence, Drinking Driving, and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order applications.
There is very limited street parking available near the court and you should reserve at least ten minutes to find parking if you choose to drive to court. Public transport is also available as there are regular train services to Sutherland train station which is only a six-minute walk to the courthouse. The Illawarra train line is the easiest method of transportation to Sutherland Local Court. If you are attending court for traffic offences for which the court may impose a licence disqualification period, it is particularly important that you do not drive to court.
Sutherland Local Court is a very busy court and if you are attending for a matter, you should make sure you arrive well before the time your matter is listed to be heard. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed and you should come prepared to be at court for most of the day.
The court list is displayed on screens in the foyer of the courthouse. You will be able to establish which courtroom your matter will be heard in by looking at those screens, or by asking at the court registry.
