Parramatta Local Court
The Parramatta Local Court is located at 12 George Street, Parramatta, on the corner of Marsden Street. It is on the same street as the Parramatta District Court and the Parramatta Children’s Court. The Local Court and District Court in Parramatta are two of the busiest courts in New South Wales.
The Local Court is the court where all criminal matters involving adults commence. It is also the court that finalises summary criminal matters including traffic offences, and domestic violence order applications. The Children’s Court deals with criminal matters where the accused is under 18.
If you have a matter in the Parramatta Courts, make sure you arrive at court well before the time the matter is listed to be heard. There is often a long line of people waiting for the Parramatta Local Court doors to open. You should be neatly dressed and you should come prepared to be at court for most of the day.
Street parking (including paid street parking) is scarce in the Parramatta region however all three criminal courts are located close to Parramatta train station (approximately a ten-minute walk). There are numerous secure parking lots in the area however these do require payment. The best way to get to the courts in Parramatta is by train, as CityRail runs regular services to and from Parramatta. There are also bus stops located within close walking distance of the court. If you are attending court for traffic offences for which the court may impose a licence disqualification period, it is particularly important that you do not drive to court.
The court list at the Local Court is displayed on screens on Level 1. You will be able to establish which courtroom your matter will be heard in by looking at those screens, or by asking at the court registry on the ground floor.

Parramatta Local Courts
The Local Court is the court where all criminal matters involving adults commence. It is also the court that finalises summary criminal matters including traffic offences, and domestic violence order applications.
Parramatta District Court
The Parramatta District Court is located at 6 George Street. The court list at the District Court is displayed on screens outside each individual courtroom. If your matter is listed for arraignment, mention, or readiness hearing, then you will most likely be required to go up to Level 1. If your matter is listed for trial, then you will most likely be in one of the other nine courtrooms which are located on numerous other levels. Your solicitor should inform you as to which courtroom you need to attend. However, if in doubt, you can ask the court registry staff on the ground floor.
Parramatta Drug Courts
There are three Drug Courts in New South Wales, one of which is located on Level 2 at Parramatta Local Court. The Drug Court falls within the District Court jurisdiction and therefore, a judge and not a magistrate presides over those proceedings. However, the physical courtroom is within the Local Court. This means that, if you are eligible for the Drug Court and reside in Canterbury-Bankstown, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Parramatta, Penrith, or Cumberland, you will be referred to the Parramatta Drug Court. The Drug Court Registry is located on the Ground Floor.
Parramatta Federal Circuit and Family Court
The Parramatta Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCA) is located in the Garfield Barwick Commonwealth Law Courts Building, 1-3 George Street, Parramatta. The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia deals with family law matters such as parenting issues, property settlement matters and spousal maintenance issues. The court is located within walking distance of Parramatta Train Station, which is also a major bus stop. Parking is available nearby at various locations but make sure you allow sufficient time to park your car and walk to the court.
Parramatta Children’s Court
The Children’s Court deals with criminal matters where the accused is under 18. It is located on 2 George Street, Parramatta.
